The volunteer will help the grantee determine the goals, audience, call to action & content for the eNewsletter. They will help the grantee determine how to track the results of the eNewsletter. The volunteer will help prepare the email templates, campaign records & reporting to track the results of the email blast. The volunteer will help the grantee send the email blast. (Marketing)

An e-newsletter template in Word or other email platform for future transmissions with style guide including color and font.

A recommended schedule for distribution.

The ability to communicate your organization's recent developments, news and events to your stakeholders through regular communications.

Project Checklist  

Organization compiles and sends key information to Professional, including the purpose of the e-newsletter, target audience(s) and current e-newsletter distribution practices. If applicable, please also explain why the current e-newsletter strategy is proving ineffective or needs enhancement.

Organization and Professional meet to discuss timeline for creation and align expectations.

Organization provides content for e-newsletter including articles, photos and hyperlinks.

Organization and Professional determine best e-newsletter format(s) (i.e. text, Constant Contact, Mail Chimp).

Professional drafts a template using selected format, edits provided copy and creates layout within template.

Professional presents to Organization for up to 2 rounds of revision and review.

Professional delivers final newsletter ready for sending and trains selected staff member on how to use template.

Professional and Organization determine frequency of future distribution based on existing best practices, staff capacity and expected availability of new content.

Organization completes Catchafire’s project survey within 30 days of success.

Professional Prerequisites  

2+ years experience in copywriting, marketing, public relations, communications or journalism.

Excellent copywriting skills with an emphasis on the ability to synthesize complex information.

Experience writing e-newsletters and familiarity with widely used e-newsletter platforms.

Writing samples that you like.

Organization Prerequisites  

A clearly defined Brand Messaging Brief.

Staff resources to sustain a regular e-newsletter.

Content and photos to use in the production of a sample e-newsletter.

An email list for distribution.

If graphic design is needed, Organization should have its own resources for graphic design or a plan to engage a Catchafire graphic design professional.
