Setting Up Online Donations

There are a few different options for accepting online donations:

  1. Partner Solution DonationPay: For an out-of-the-box solution (that is separate from NetSuite), you can purchase DonationPay. DonationPay has partnered with NetSuite.org to provide their services to grantees taking donations online. You can learn more here: https://www.donationpay.org.
  2. Use Existing Website: If you have an existing website, NetSuite can integrate into the back-end as the shopping cart and pull transaction information into the NetSuite order management system.
    1. If you have experience integrating solutions via APIs, this can be done manually. You can use CSV files to export and import information as well.
    2. For a more automated integration, you can purchase the SiteBuilder module and use NetSuite’s WSDK tool to tag and map all the information that needs to be exchanged between your website and NetSuite.
  3. Create a New Fully Integrated NetSuite Website: You can also build a new website using NetSuite’s native ecommerce functions.
    1. FYI, the front-end design of the basic NetSuite website is extremely rudimentary. However it will already include all the functions you need: Payment processing, real-time changes in catalog and item availability, real-time impacts on customer accounts and your accounting.
    2. If you need more robust web design capabilities, you may need to add the SiteBuilder module (which is now free with the base donation so contact your Account Manager if you are an existing grantee).
    3. For credit card authorization and processing, you may need the services of one of our merchant solution partners: eMerchant-Solutions or CyberSource.

If you use NetSuite’s ecommerce, you will need to customize the item management functionality to match your online donation tracking needs. Instead of tracking “products” sold like a normal retail website, NetSuite’s underlying mechanisms can be configured to view them as “donations.” Please view our Getting Started Documents, which include some instructions, to learn more: Session 3: Donors/Customers, Vendors, Items and Forms.

SuiteVolunteers also offer pro bono services to help create an Online Donation Page. View the pro bono projects offered for next quarter and sign up: http://www.netsuite.org/project.shtml

If you need additional assistance, please contact your Account Manager and they will answer your questions and connect you with a NetSuite.org Grantee Success Specialist as needed.
